Dead On, Old Girl

Helen Thomas. Ya gotta love the old girl, but especially when she’s taking chunks out of the Bush administration over it’s claims about Iraq. Some of us knew, and said all along, that Americans were being sold a bill of goods about Iraq and the threat it posed. That she quotes former CIA couter-terrorism director Tom Cannistrano as saying “‘Now, we have created the conditions that have made Iraq the place to come to attack Americans.” In effect, where Iraq was not the nest of terrorist activity that Bush administraiton claimed it was before the war, it has become just that since and largely thanks to our activity in the area. We destabilized the place just enough for organized terrorists to get in and gain a foothold which Saddam Hussein had, at the very least, prevented them from doing during his regime.
