Mac Whacked

Not to tweak the noses of any Mac users, but I couldnt’ help getting a little bit of a chuckle out of this.

I got a shiny new Apple G5 for Christmas. I loved the case, but I’m no Mac user. So I….

Get a brand new dual processor G5, then

• Rip out everything,
• Cut out the back of the case so I can use a PC motherboard, and
• Install an Athlon motherboard.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure G5 is a great computer, but I wanted a Dell for Christmas. I don’t have any programs for Apple and didn’t feel like waiting for them. I thought about selling it, but my parents would be upset with me. After all, this was a very expensive gift and it meant a lot to them to give to me.

Like I’ve said before, I’m an avid computer gamer, so I’m PC user at home. There just aren’t enough games released for the Mac platform, and the ones that are usually come out long after the Windows version has been released. So what’s a gamer to do?

Still, I’ve worked with Macs on various jobs. I like to consider myself “bilingual” when it comes to computers. (If I had any experience with Linux, I guess I’d be “trilingual.”)I had a G5 as my computer on one of my previous jobs, and it was a very nice machine.

Even I wouldn’t have done that to the G5. I’d have sold it and bought an Alienware, a higher-end Gateway than the one I have, or some other high end PC. After all, chances are someone would pay handsomely to get their hands on an unopened and unused (which is the condition it would be in if it was given to me) G5.
