It looks like Lane at Eat Your Vegetables has pretty much the same reaction I’m having to Kerry’s New Hampshire win and Dean’s second place showing.
If someone doesn’t break through big next week we have our nominee. Not my first choice, not my second choice, not my third choice, probably my fourth choice, but as others have said here and elsewhere, those of us out on the left of the left never get our first or second choices.
‘On the left of the left.’ I laughed, but I guess that pretty much describes me, too.
I was tempted to leave the room when the hubby turned on the news for the New Hampshire primary results. I just wasn’t sure I was ready to hear the news. Dean did manage to come in second place, but with a considerable point spread (39% vs. 26%) between him and Kerry. On a more interesting note, Dean currently has more delegates than Kerry, though not by much (113 to 94). It looks like Dean has to win somewhere when the race goes national on February 3rd, just to stay in the game and influence the race, even if he doesn’t win the nomination.
I’m still supporting Dean, at least until he pulls out of the race, or falls back so far that he can’t recover. I just wonder how long his supporters will stay with him, and how long his money will last. How long do you stick by a candidate who’s chances of winning look slimmer and slimmer?
I am also left of left. But, to get rid of Bush, I am willing to go ‘center.’
I want to see how South Carolina votes.
What a cool, informative web site. Thanks for having this on the net.
