The Heave Ho

Via Lean Left.

I nearly spewed coffee all over my monitor this morning when I read that Dean has dismissed his campaign manager, Joe Trippi. Not just that, but apparently his campaign is dealing with a money crunch as well, as he’s asked his campaign workers to make some sacrifices too.

Democrat Howard Dean shook up his faltering bid for the White House on Wednesday, replacing his campaign manager with a longtime associate of former Vice President Al Gore.

In a further sign of distress, the one-time front-runner implemented cost-cutting measures as he looked ahead to a series of costly primaries and caucuses, asking staff to defer their paychecks for two weeks.

“Governor Dean asked Roy Neel to join the campaign as CEO and Joe Trippi resigned as campaign manager,” said Tricia Enright, a campaign spokeswoman.

This does not bode well. Basically it looks like Dean has got to win somewhere when the primary campaign goes national on Tuesday. From my perspective, it looks like he’s in serious trouble.

As a supporter, I’m hanging on to see what happens. Still I guess my choices for a candidate are narrowing down. Clark is a no-go as far as I’m concerned. That leaves Kerry, Kucinich and Edwards. (I’m not even counting Sharpton as a possiblity at this point). I have some major problems I’ll have to get over with Kerry – the biggest one being his supporting for the war with Iraq. Kucinich I’ll probably agree with on most things. Edwards I don’t know.

Unfortunately, if things go bad in Iraq, Dean will do well. I’ll also put forward this conspiracy: the Euros will prop up the economy by buying dollars/bonds long enough for W to be elected so they can continue to blame Iraq on American foreign policy. A huge deficit is a loss of sovereignty.
