FALLUJAH

More images from Fallujah.

Iraqis chant anti-American slogans as charred bodies hang from a bridge over the Euphrates River in Fallujah, west of Baghdad, Wednesday, March 31 2004. Enraged Iraqis in this hotbed of anti-Americanism killed four foreigners Wednesday, including at least one U.S. national, took the charred bodies from a burning SUV, dragged them through the streets, and hung them from the bridge. And we were going to be “welcomed as liberators.” This commenter at the Washington Monthly blog pretty much sums up my attitude.

Goddamn it, I TOLD YOU SO!!! All the freaking warbloggers and pollyanna neocons with your friggin’ visions of freedom and democra[c]y in the Middle East.

It was a big, freaking waste of 200 billion dollars to ‘liberate’ Iraq so that anarchy and unrest could lead to this.

Nobody listened. Nobody wanted to hear about Vietnam and the inhumanity of man, and they still don’t, but goddamn it, you all were friggin wrong! It was a stupid idea based on blind faith, and things are all screwed up and it wasted billions.

I am sick of being right. I am sick of ignorant people.

I don’t think all the warbloggers and pollyanna neocons have any respect for the concept of democracy at all. I think it’s more about their chance to be all “you will be assimilated, resistance is futile.” Especially to anyone in the middle east. “Be like us or die,” Crusades anyone?
