The word is that former Chicago Bears coach Mike Ditka will not seek the U.S. Senate nomination abandoned by Jack Ryan following a scandal surrounding the release of records from his divorce.
It’s good news because this leaves Illinois Republicans without a strong candidate to oppose the popular Democrat Barack Obama, recently tapped as a keynote speaker at the Democrat’s convention. If elected Obama will be the only African American serving in the United States Senate.
Ditka wouldn’t do it because he would have to give up his endorsements. Now their looking at…..hold on to your hat… Ted Nugent.
