Laughable
It would be laughable, if it werent’ also so pathetic. You just have to hear it to believe it. Countless people have blogged about Bush’s recent and unfortunate speaking engagement at a minority journalism conference, at which he painfully stumbled through a definition of tribal sovereignity (which wasn’t even asked for) and a room full of journalist laughed at him as he blundered along.
Q Most school kids learn about the government in the context of city, county, state and federal. And, of course, tribal governments are not part of that at all. … What do you think tribal sovereignty means in the 21st century, and how do we resolve conflicts between tribes and the federal and the state governments?
THE PRESIDENT: Tribal sovereignty means that, it’s sovereign. You’re a — you’ve been given sovereignty, and you’re viewed as a sovereign entity. And, therefore, the relationship between the federal government and tribes is one between sovereign entities.
Maybe I’m wrong, but I remember from my schooldays that using a word several times in an attempt to define the word itself is a sure sign one doesn’t know what the word means. And when the president of the United States can’t answer a direct question about sovereignity because he doesn’t know the meaning of the word, that’s just sad. Frightening, but also sad.
But what else can we expect for a man who takes pride in how much he doesn’t know? And this is the best we could come up with for a leader of the free world?

More Blunders
First, see my post about one of Bush’s recent blunders. Because I can’t resist, I direct your attention to The Republic of T. for some more stupid things: Bush also said high taxes on the rich are a failed strategy…

Dude -
Great site! I especially love this:
Using a word several times in an attempt to define the word itself is a sure sign one doesn’t know what the word means.
Brilliant. May be forced to plagiarize that one! Keep up the good work. I’m putting a link to your site on mine. Reciprocate if you see fit: http://probitus.obrien4.net.
