Social Linking

A co-worker of mine posted about del.icio.us on the company blog, and I thought I’d share it here, just because it’s a fun new online toy, and convenient too. It’s difficult to describe, so here’s the language from their “about” page:

del.icio.us is a social bookmarks manager. It allows you to easily add sites you like to your personal collection of links, to categorize those sites with keywords, and to share your collection not only between your own browsers and machines, but also with others.

I’ve stored my bookmarks online at MyBookmarks.Com for a while now, and it’s a good service too—especially if you want to keep your bookmarks handy from any machine, but also private.

Del.icio.us is not a good place to store bookmarks that you want to keep private, but otherwise it’s a fun way to access bookmarks that you don’t mind sharing, and to see what other people with similar interests are bookmarking as well. In fact, I discovered a few sites I want to surf back to later, so I posted them on my del.icio.us.

Trust me, it’s worth checking out.
