I took Parker to the playground this evening, and took some pictures. This one is probably my favorite, just because it’s such a happy picture.

This is another favorite of mine, because it almost looks posed, but Parker doesn’t stand still long enough to be posed. I just happened to hit the button at the right moment, just before he was about to go down the smaller slide at the playground.

There was a Spanish woman at the playground with her two kids, and she was kicking a soccer ball with her son. When Parker showed an interest in the ball (as he always does; we may have a budding athlete on our hands) she was kind enough to let him play with it.

This is Parker with one of his favorite things: a toy truck. This one belongs to the playground, but he has a few of his own at home. We noticed as some point that Parker has a bit of an obsession with trucks…and buses…and vans…and cars. “Truck” was one of his first words, followed soon after by “Bus.” Rick and I find it a bit amusing, because as little boys neither of us had the remotest interest in such things. But then we’re gay, and not stereotypically “masculine.” Growing up, I played with my sister’s dolls, rather than toy trucks and such. My parents decided to get me some of my own, so I ended up with Ken and G.I. Joe. That’s another story for another day. Thus far, Parker is turning out to be a “regular boy.” (Whatever that is. )
Aside from trucks, buses, vans and cars, Parker also likes airplanes. As soon as he hears one he says “Airplane” before he even sees it. Usually we affirm whatever he says. If he says “Bus” or “It’s a bus, ” we say “Yes, there’s a bus.” If he says “Airplane” I usually say “Yes, the airplane is in the sky” and Parker then says “Airplane in the sky.” Watching him acquire language is a truly amazing thing.
Anyway, those are the Parker pictures for the day.
thank you
