The New Place

If you’ve wandered over here from my Typepad blog, welcome. I’ve been wanting to move to my own space for a while, and I finally managed to accomplish it. If you followed my rambling about the various blog tools I tried in the previous few weeks, you’ll notice that I finally Settled on WordPress. The main reasons were the ease of installation, and the ease with which I could import my Typepad content using the WordPress MT import feature. It took minutes. Literally.

I’ve settled on a WP template that I like, and made some additions to the index file, to include some of the features I wanted; my first venture into editing a PHPfile. (I’m just starting to learn PHP.)

So, if you wandered over here from the old site, take a minute and update your link or blogroll, so that it points to the news address: www.republicoft.com. You might also want to update your RSS feed using the button in the sidebar.

Wow! It’s very nice in here. Would it be all right if I took the bunk next to the whirlpool? I like the artwork, and the blue paint. Very elegant.

I was kinda hoping for some snacks during the opening; but it’s ok — don’t get up — I think I have some saltines in my jacket pocket.

We will need your picture to look at, T. I mean, when any of us members of The Gang post, we like to look up at you and imagine what you must think of the wisdom we’re dispensing in reaction to your profound posts. Maybe you could feature it as a pop-up ad that appears suddenly as an 8 x 10 glossy.

Congrats on the new site. I hope this expensive neighborhood doesn’t turn you into a, gulp, Republican.

Aww, we couldn’t steer you to MT, I see. Well, good thing you hit the Wordpress wagon. it’s a great thing. Been getting involved in the PHP for about a year, and I’m sure you’ll be a pro.

Looks like Bloglines found your feed automatically also, which is a good thing.

Nice looking site. I had to manually set the RSS feed in FireFox and NetNewsWire but all works fine now.
