Still Trackback-less

Well, after some searching in the WordPress forums, and on Google, I’ve found a lot of people touting this fix for the WordPress trackback bug.

So, I gave it a try. It only worked halfway for me. Apparently, I can send trackbacks now, but I still can’t receive them. Finding an answer doesn’t appear to be easy. I’m not the only WordPress user having this problem, but that doesn’t make me feel any better.

Right now I’m looking at using HaloScan for trackbacks, since I already have working comments. I just have to figure out where to paste the HaloScan trackbacks code. There are other suggested fixes in the support forums, but it’s impossible to know which will work and which won’t. Most of them have me going under the hood, dealing with PHP coding I don’t yet understand. I’m beginning to think this is one of the downsides of open source; the support just isn’t there when you need it, nor are the answers.

I must admit I’m disappointed. If I’d known about this problem before, I wouldn’t have switched to WordPress, and at this point I’d probably advise anyone else against using it since it’s impossible to tell whether they’ll have the same problem or not. I’m not sure what I can do at this point but sit with it and hope it gets fixed in the next version.

I’m beginning to think I should have stayed with Typepad. But I’m here now, so what am I gonna do?
