Gay and Giving

Via Wonkette, I just came across a link for the Rainbow World Fund. Here’s what they have to say about themselves.

We are a gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and supportive heterosexual humanitarian service agency. Rainbow World Fund’s mission is to promote GLBT philanthropy in the area of world humanitarian relief. RWF provides a united voice, a large visible presence, and a structure to deliver GLBT charitable assistance to the larger world community.

The Rainbow World Fund works to help people overseas and in the United States who suffer from hunger, poverty, disease, oppression and war by raising awareness and funds to support existing relief efforts around the world. RWF accomplishes this by working in the GLBT community educating people about world need. Along with raising our community’s consciousness, RWF raises funds to support humanitarian relief projects. We partner with international relief agencies to support successful existing projects. By doing extensive research, RWF develops partnerships with the most effective organizations that best reflect our guiding principles: Empowerment, Sustainability, Peacemaking, Measurable Impact and Ecological Awareness.

Some folks are “thanking god for the tsunami.” Rainbow World Fund is trying help instead. They have a special link on their homepage to make donations for tsunami relief. Specify “Asia Response” when making your donation. I just made my second tsunami relief donation through them, and added them to my links.
