Condi Confirmed

It’s done. Rice was confirmed by a vote of 85 to 13, which means that some Democrats must have voted for her confirmation. I haven’t seen a list of those who voted “no” yet. But if I have time to look for one, and happen to find one, I’ll post it.

Meanwhile, kudos to Senators Kennedy, Boxer, and Byrd for standing to speak against Rice’s confirmation. It’s somewhat comforting to know that at least few Democrats have a strategy for dealing with the Republican majority besides “bend over, lube up, and learn to love it.”

Update: Via TalkLeft, here’s the list of Dem’s who should still be able to look in the mirror after today.

Barbara Boxer, D-Calif.
Robert Byrd, D-W.Va.
Edward Kennedy, D-Mass.
John Kerry, D-Mass.
Carl Levin, D-Mich.
James Jeffords, I-Vt.
Jack Reed, D-R.I
Mark Dayton, D-Minn.
Daniel Akaka, D-Hawaii
Evan Bayh, D-Ind.
Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J.
Tom Harkin, D-Iowa
Richard Durbin, D-Ill.

So much for having an opposition party.
