Anti-Gay & Anti-Divorcee

Like I needed a new reason to hate the Bush administration.

After the rumor about the White House chef, I’m a bit gun shy on posting about something the latest I’ve just heard. Apparently Britain’s Prince Charles and his bride-to-be Camilla are not welcome at th White House. Why? Beause she is a divorcee.

The Bush Administration’s attacks on same-sex marriage have now been expanded to include unmarried heterosexuals and divorced people - resulting on a ban of Camilla Parker Bowles from the White House.

The Administration is pushing its traditional marriage initiative aimed at keeping straight families from breaking up and banning gay marriage.

…The Sun reports that the Royal household was told that Camilla, who will have the title Her Royal Highness Princess Consort after Charles becomes king, is not welcome at the White House because she is a divorcee.

The reports do no mention that Charles is also a divorcee.

So we’re back to stigmatizing families that don’t fit the 1950’s mold. (I suppose it would have been better for Charles and Diana to stay in an unhappy marriage, after all.)

I wonder how long before “Postcards from Buster” gets yanked entirely off the air. After all, Margaret Spellings expressed concern that the show “glamorizes divorce” as Buster travels the country with his father, who is divorced from Buster’s mother. Never mind that Spellings herself is a divorcee.

After a divorce from her first husband in 1997, she was a single mom for four years before marrying Robert Spellings, a lawyer-lobbyist who has offices in Washington and Austin. They live in the Virginia suburbs with her two daughters. [emphasis mine]

How many divorcees does Bush have in his administration? Are they welcome at the White House? For that matter, how many gays & lesbians does Bush have in his administration, and are they and their partners welcome at the White House? Are Mary Cheney and her partner welcome at White House?

Just asking. Hypocrites.

Well, Limbaugh and Gingrich spring to mind immediately.

This HAS to be a joke? right? tell me its a joke?

can they be THAT blatantly hypocritical? I’m sitting here with my jaw open… I just can’t imagine, even after been shocked so many times, they could be so totally absurd.

God.. this administration is just almost a caricature of itself.

I keep thinking the same thing. I’m waiting for someone to tell me that this is a joke, or satire, or something. Does this mean that Newt Gingrich, Bob Barr, and Rush Limbaugh (to name a few) are not welcome at the White House either?

My read on the 365gay article is that someone made a comment and they wrote a story around it, but it is probably not true. The article is actually a confused mess. I can’t imagine it’s true.

And let’s not forget their hero, Ronald Reagan.

Ummm, the article quotes The Sun. The Sun is UK tabloid trash of the worst order — probably the least credible source available in the UK, after the Daily Mail and perhaps BNP/UKIP leaflets. This is tabloid news, although I can’t say it doesn’t seem true to form…
