Ask Me Anything – Dunner

Stunning Dunner chimes in with his four questions.

  1. Any more plans to go to law school?
  2. Why or why not?
  3. Favorite part of living in DC?
  4. Boxers or briefs? *grin*

My answers follow.

Any more plans to go to law school?
and
Why or why not?

I’m tackling these two questions together because they kinda go together. Going to law school is something that’s still filed away in the back of my mind. Around the time that I started really thinking about it, my life took a different course, and right now I’m seeing where that goes. It doesn’t feel like this is the right time in my life to be going to law school, so it’s something I’ve filed away for later.

There’s also some question for me about what exactly was behind wanting to go to law school. I think some of the desire to do it was and is real, but if I’m honest with myself, I think I have to also admit that there’s more to it than that. At least some of it is wrapped up in me feeling like I haven’t accomplished as much as I “should have” at this point in life; and that I’m “behind” somehow. There’s probably also a desire to prove soemething to myself and to others—like that I’m not “lazy, stupid or crazy”—which is what a lot of adults with untreated ADD come to believe about themselves after a seemingly endles series of failures. In my mind, it’s probably also a way to prove the same to other people—who, in reality, have long ago stopped thinking about me.

If/when I do go to law school, I’ll be among those “non-traditional” students who does it after having had a previous career and/or raised kids, etc. Look for the guy with gray hairs in his dreadlocs. That’ll be me.

Favorite part of living in DC?

There are so many. I like the size of the city. It’s big enough, without being overwhelming. It’s a great cultural city. There’s theater, art, etc., all accessible. Plus, I can live here and never need to have a car.

Boxers or briefs *grin*

Briefs. ;-) And sometimes boxer briefs.
