I just thought of this and decided to do it, for a couple of different reasons. First, it’ll help focus my blog reading a bit, and perhaps and even broaden the variety of blogs I read. Second, it’s a means of practicing what I was just preaching in the previous post.
What is it? Well, a while back I picked up on the 10 Random Tunes meme, and started doing it every Friday. It caught on, and now Lauren is the “keeper of the flame.” I thought I’d “re-mix” that meme, and post links to 10 blog posts I’ve found interesting in the past week or so. I’m going to do my best to post this every Friday and see what happens.
I’m starting with ten because that seemed like a reasonable amount, but the number may grow as iThis first ten is a mix of people whose blogs I’m familiar with and people whose blogs I read for the first time while compiling this list, mostly discovered by liking a post on one blog and then randomly clicking on (you guessed it) the blogroll. I’m thinking that I’m going to try and visit at least one or two new-to-me blogs each day.
Maybe it’ll catch on, and maybe more people will do it. If nothing else, we’ll get to read at least a few things we might not have read otherwise. And, during the week, if you have any suggestions for the Friday Ten, drop me an email and I’ll check them out.
So here goes the Friday Ten for this week.
- This is What Happens… – Hope links to a horrendous example of what can happen when women don’t have easy access to medical abortions.
- be all you can be – Jay Ramsey Sutter ponders Lynndie England, Alberto Gonzales, and Sylvia Plath.
- Why do doctors hate women? – You’ll want to read this one, from Shaula Evans, while standing up.
- Cinco De Mayo – let’s get it right folks – Prime sets us straight on another bastardized cultural holiday.
- Action Alert: Bush Backtracking on Darfur – Phil wants you to send a letter to Congress urging them to keep aid to Darfur intact as Bush backs away from the Darfur Accountability Act.
- Civil union announcement was a hoax – Bill’s pissed that our lives are evidently a joke to some people.
- Why Should Abortion Be Rare? – BioOc sez “A potential person does not have a right to live that trumps my right to not become its mother.”
- The Heretik Remembers the Boy from Diamond Drive – Because somebody needs to.
- Sharp As Steel with Discontent – Lorraine Berry is “reacting to the bullshit with the rage of Medusa.”
- You’re Amazing (Pass It On) – Dave Pollard wants to start a whisper campaign
Bonus: I knew I wouldn’t be able to keep it to ten. That’s what happens when I start my morning blog reading.
“Two for not flinching” – Houston discovers that playing “cowboys and indians” ain’t what it used to be.
