Wow. May is almost gone. My music choices for April turned out well. Royksopp’sMelody A.M. and Mint Condition’s Livin’ the Luxury Brown have been in regular rotation on the iPod.
However, if I’m going to live up to my resolution to try new music each month, I’m going to have to pick something else soon. I don’t have anything particular in mind, so I’m asking for recommendations once again. If you want to check out what I’ve already gotten this year, look in the Music category. It’s all there.
So, what do you think I should try next music-wise?
LOVE M.C. (They are, afterall, my Twin Cities homeboys.)
My music recommendation: By accident, I happened upon Verve Records’s “Re-mixed” series thru iTunes. You wouldn’t think, for example, Felix Da Housecat and Nina Simone would be a good mix. But surprisingly, they are–as are the other combinations of classic jazz and house/dj/electronica.
Ok, bud, you know I gotta get my word in.
My recs are either Kevin Sandbloom’s CD, Earthbound, or Fila Brazilia’s, “A Touch of Cloth”.
Kevin’s vocal is this rustic pop infused with r&B elements. Though his production is sparse, there’s no denying his soulful delivery. Take special listen to “Wave”, All Mighty”, and “After The Show”. This should be on iTunes since he’s also a CD BABY artist. If not, listen here: http://www.dgenerate.com/albums.php?artistID=39
Fila Brazilia takes their musical blend to different places in each song, let alone each CD. This work I’m recommending was done in 1999, but it’s just been added to iTunes. It’s instrumental and groovy. Listen to the cuts, “Airlock Homes”, Slow Light”, and “Trivia”.
Glad you liked “Luxury”.
