With his approval ratings circling the bowl, continuing violence in Iraq, more Abu Ghraib pictures coming, and the DeLay effect spreading, the Downing Street Memo may have just driven Bush over the edge.
According to this Kos diary, Bush just denied the truth of the Downing Street Memo on television.
CBS news (Bob Schieffer) has three quotes from DSM (including “fixed”) plastered on the screen while being read. Then cuts to video of Bush’s vigorous (sort of angry)denial, from a podium, which I assume was from a news conference related to Blair’s visit: Bush saying: “Nothing could be further from the truth. [revised after seeing replay of video:]My conversations with The Prime Minister were how to do this peacefully.”
This was as pissed off/defensive as I have seen Bush since, well, I don’t know…..
Here’s video of the CBS segment, and video of and NBC segment on the DSM. (I don’t have the bandwith to watch them, yet.)
Heh. We’ve made enough noise about the memo that it’s bubbled up into corporate media, and even Bush can no longer ignore it. What’s more, he’s on record as denying its truth. There are numerous recorded remembrances of Bush’s desire to go to war with Iraq even before he got elected. That he wanted to do anything peacefully at the time the memo was written doesn’t pass the laugh test, frankly.
This is now officially gettin’ good. But there’s no reason to let up now.
Wait, do you mean that HIS popularity is 6%?
I ask because I am trying so hard not to pay attention right now – it all just stresses me out and while I’m pregnant I cannot handle it. But despite my efforts, I know about this stuff because well – I read blogs. lol
So can it be? Is HIS populatiry a mere 6%? Because that would be the best news I’ve heard all day.
Interestingly a famous psychic said that thsis year his true colours will show and that he will be reaping what he sows…and she wouldn;t say specifically what that meant but this isw all a very interesting turn of events in light of what she said…
I’m just saying
