From everything I’ve heard, including an email from Zach’s friend Wendy, who says he’s able to contact her about once a week, Zach is staying another six weeks at Refuge because his parents find it “necessary and effective.”
I can’t imagine what Zach is feeling, but it kind of took my breath away. I can’t imagine six weeks of having your identity and ego constantly bombarded in a place like that. At this point, I’m wondering if there’s anything anybody can legally do here.
As a practical if not legal matter, there will be no court intervention unless one of three things happens: (1) A government agency concludes Zack is being abused, (2) a member of Zack’s family complains that Zack is being abused, or (3) Zack forces the issue by doing something like running away.
I suspect that what’s keeping Zack in the program is his emotional and economic ties to his parents more than any legal constraints.
I agree with Rea
“I suspect that what’s keeping Zack in the program is his emotional and economic ties to his parents more than any legal constraints.”
I also believe based on his writing that he knows he screwed up and shouldn’t have come out till after he left home. He fully understands who he is and is quite comfortable with it.
He’ll bide his time, be a good little boy and do as he’s told and finish the interven…brainwashing camp. He come home and play nice and the first chance he gets (and it does appear he’ll have plenty of chances) He’ll walk out the door and not look back.

Judging from what he wrote on his profile, I wouldn’t be surprised if those are his actions. It can be a hard thing always trying to please your parents….I’m still trying.

(I’m telling you this, you don’t have a choice, silly people) im very open-minded, im rarely disturbed or surprised by people. i dont put effort into hating. im most entertaining when i havent slept for nights, esp if im outside walking, or in walmart/walgreens/target or the like. i find quirks the most attractive detail in a person. i hate sexual orientation stereotypes and prejudices. if i come on as an ass, be just as cynical and sarcastic back and ill love you forever – i dont try to, it just happens at times. in large groups i listen, in smaller groups i talk about the most random pointless things. i try to make everyone happy – some people consider that a character flaw.”
