Egalia of Tennessee Guerilla Women is reporting that Zach, a gay teen in Memphis who has a blog, will have to stay six more weeks at Love in Action/Refuge, a camp that claims to heal those of their homosexual ways….

His parents are child abusers, period. This is entirely analogous to the situation in Texas in which thumper parents lost custody of their daughter because they refused to allow her cancer to be medically treated.

I agree with you that hyperbole doesn’t help the situation, but strong action may in fact be necessary. Zach should know that if he wants to run away, he will have help, he will be okay, he will be able to make a life for himself.

He should also know that, in general, people aren’t as superstitious and hateful as his parents are.

I propose that all people in his area that believe this is wrong break Zach out of that facility. Hell, open up all the cages and report these children’s parents to the authorities on charges of Child Abuse, Child Neglect, and Depraved Indifference.

Oh, and throw in something about the Emancipation Proclamation. Kids aren’t slaves, they’re citizens and deserve the same rights as everyone else.
