- When reality doesn’t fit your beliefs, deny reality.
- When reality doesn’t fit your beliefs, make shit up
Surely both of these are in play when Rush Limbaugh calls Cindy Sheehan’s story "a hoax."
LIMBAUGH: I mean, Cindy Sheehan is just Bill Burkett. Her story is nothing more than forged documents. There’s nothing about it that’s real, including the mainstream media’s glomming onto it. It’s not real. It’s nothing more than an attempt. It’s the latest effort made by the coordinated left.
What part of Sheehan’s story is supposedly fraudulent can be known only to Limbaugh and his listeners. In the reality-based community, the story is that Casey Sheehan died on April 4, 2004, in Baghdad. He and six others were killed by rocket-launched grenades.
How much more "real" you can get than that, is beyond me. I’m guessing Limbaugh has evidence that Casey Sheehan is actually alive and well somewhere in South America, after he and his mother colluded to fake his death and thus give her a reason to lauch a protest to embarass the president. Either that or he’s got a grenade launcher with Cindy Sheehan’s fingerprints on it.
Or it’s just more of Limbaugh’s inane drooling, eagerly lapped up by his listeners.
