Brown Stays Around

File this one under “You’ve Got to be Kidding Me.” Remember Mike Brown? The former horse association attorney and Bush crony who was in charge of FEMA and presided over the disaster that was the response failure after the hurricane? Yeah. That Mike Brown

He’s got a new job.

CBS News’ Bob Schieffer just announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency has rehired ex-FEMA chief Michael Brown– as a consultant to evaluate the agency’s response to the disaster!

From CBS’s Katrina blog: “Sept. 26, 2005 /6:44 p.m. (CBS) — CBS News correspondent Gloria Borger reports that Michael Brown, who recently resigned as the head of the FEMA, has been rehired by the agency as a consultant to evaluate it’s [sic] response following Hurricane Katrina.”

Yeah. If you’re like me you’re gonna need a minute to make sure you read that right. After everything that’s happened, not only does this guy still have a job, but his job is assessing the piss poor response he was responsible for when he was the head of FEMA. In case you’re still not clear I’ll spell it out.

Michael Brown’s new job is to assess his effectiveness on his old job.

Oh yeah. And he’s still on the FEMA payroll. I guess we don’t have to wonder if who ever did his exit interview checked the box next to “would rehire this employee.”

One thing’s for sure, you gotta give these folks credit for sheer nerve. These guys sure do take care of each other.

One Response to Brown Stays Around

I know. I had to read it twice also. I am just completely baffled, but I hope the media has a backbone on this and the story blows up. One more example of Bush style cronyism.
