Me. Media.

As you read this, I’m on a train headed to New York City for the We Media conference.

Since it’s a conference about the “participatory media” of the internet, I’m guessing (hoping) that there’ll be wi-fi available somewhere. If so I’ll try to post from the conference. In the meantime, check out some of the folks from the blogroll.

Me? Media?

Well, maybe for one day. I’ve gone back and forth about it and, like I’ve said before, I don’t consider what I do on this blog to be journalism. Maybe if I were out, hunting down stories, would. But what I do is really more about amplifying news stories than doing any original reporting.

Nonetheless, the blogosphere is considered a sort of “new media,” teeming with “citizen journalists,” etc. It also happens to be where I work. So, I’ll be attending the We Media conference in New York tomorrow.

I won’t have time to do much in the way of seeing the city. I’m literally coming in for the conference and heading right back out again. But I thought I’d say something, just to account for the long stretches of silence on the blog tomorrow.
