So, I’m still in the game as far as National Novel Writing Month is concerned. I’ve decided on a story. According to the rules, I can’t start actually writing it until November 1st. There’s no rule, however, against sketching out the characters and outlining the story. So, I’ve been working on that with Writer’s Dreamkit, some writing software I bought a few years back, the last time I got the creative writing bug. I didn’t manage to pull it off the, but I didn’t have a start date and a deadline for finishing the first draft.
Hopefully it’ll be different this time. I’ve gotten involved on the NaNoWriMo forums, where I’ve been getting in contact with local participants. There may be a D.C. area kick-off party, as well as local “write-ins” where people get together on a regular basis to write. (For some reason it’s easier to write in the company of others who have the same goal.)
What’s funny is that several of my fellow NaNoWriMo particpants have found their way over to this blog. When I saw the referrer link yesterday, I thought it was from my profile. But it turns out that someone posted a link to Zach’s story in response to someone’s question about their novel-in-progress. I thought that was kinda neat.
