Questions in Saddam Lawyer Deaths

About the killing of a second lawyer for Saddam’s codefendants, TalkLeft asks:

Why aren’t these lawyers being provided with security guards? Apparently, Sadoon Janabi, the lawyer who was gunned down on October 20, had refused protection. It should be mandatory.

Maybe it’s me, but I think the better question would be: if we’ve been so successful in Iraq, why should these lawyers need a security detail in the first place? Can people not do their jobs in Iraq (those who have them) without fear of death?

Just asking. Like I said, maybe it’s just me.
