Puking Purple

I gotta agree with Matt. Hearing stuff like this (the page is apparently gone, but Google has it cached) from Dems like Barrak Obama makes me want to start puking purple.

Let me say this – I don’t think that George Bush is a bad man. I think he loves his country. I don’t think this administration is full of stupid people – I think there are a lot of smart folks in there. The problem isn’t that their philosophy isn’t working the way it’s supposed to – it’s that it is. It’s that it’s doing exactly what it’s supposed to do. – Senator Obama’s stump speech

It strikes me as odd to see Democrats going through all manner of contortions to criticize with president without pissing off his wingnut base. So they’re simply “good people” who are merely “misguided”?

It must be nice. From my perpsective, I don’t really have that kind of luxury. These folks have made it abundantly clear that their vision for this country is one in which people like me and families like mine do not exist. Barring that, they’ll settle for at least teaching us not to raise our heads.

To see them as “good people” who are simply misguided requires a few more psychological contortions than I’m capable of.

Funny you know, use of words. At a Deaf List I belong to, there is a debate [again] over the use of the word fascist. One of the elements in that debate is that using that word is only preaching to the converted, and that all others would switch off on hearing that word.

It seems we are meant to be polite in our criticism in order to put your point across or have any hope in making them see reality.

Well first of all, since it’s a case of the blind leading the blind, you won’t make them see no matter how many times you beat their heads against the fucking wall. So you may as well vent your anger and frustration, by calling them the scum sucking sloths that they are. No matter how hard you try, to reason and rationalise, a stupid person suffering from delusions that they are indeed intelligent, will continue to labour under that delusion. So all we can do is laugh at their misfortune.

However, their is nothign stupid or ignorant about Bush and his Administration [or indeed, the Australian Prime Minister - the little man with the little dick - and his administration, who are ever so ready to act as porcelain cisterns for Bush's tender white arse]. They are evil, cold, calculating, greedy, money grubbing fascist shitbags. It is simple as that.

The thing is, they know what they do!

Right on.  Not to be all heterophobic, but straight people do have the luxury of praising Bush for being a "good" man when they are not being directly  threatened by the Bush admin. I don’t think the atttack on my family by the Bush admin and the rest of the republicans is  the work of "good" people.  And I find it sickening that  other Americans can accept the inherent racism, misogyny,  and dismantling of all the small gains for those not rich, white, straight and christian in America by republicans because Bush is not directly attacking them. What does the man have to do to lose their respect?

I agree, at least you know who your enemies are, including wishy washy democrats looking to run for office as a future endeavor.  Poor is the man or woman whose freedom depends on that of another.

Being straight-ish doesn’t give me the luxury of saying bush is a good man.  First because I believe in equal rights across the board – so even my LGBT brothers and sisters can raise a family like anyone else, with the rights of anyone else against discrimination.  Just because I don’t happen to have an "alternative" sexuality doesn’t change the importance of anyone’s rights.  The other problem is that I am poor.  I haevn’t seen a doctor in 2 years and it cost me $380some when I did – I can’t afford that but I also couldn’t afford to die and leave my family homeless.  Now it could well turn out they cut my 3yr old son off medicaid and the foodstamps his mom desperately needs.  I only eat once a day so I have enough to feed my son reasonable food when he’s here – about half the time.  I would take a paycut if I could find a job with benies but they don’t exist in my world.  I am going to school but that may dry up too.  Any moron calling bush a "good" man is either stupid or they just don’t give a damn about anybody but themselves, and if they’re not wealthy they don’t care much for themselves either.  I won’t even talk about civil liberties – the ones we used to have. . .
