Wow, it looks like I got a Koufax award nomination for Most Deserving of Wider Recognition, along with a lot of other folks. And here’s a funny bit about who else some folks wanted to nominate.
Below are just under 300 urls for blog most deserving of wider recognition. There were many more, but I do admit to utilizing a litmus test this year: Atrios, AmericaBlog and Firedoglake have quite the following already. Maybe this category can be reserved for the little guys.
Atrios? AmericaBlog? Most deserving of wider recognition? Why not nominate DailyKos too? There are probably still a few people in the western hemisphere who aren’t reading him yet. C’mon folks, leave at least one category for us “little guys.”
Since I’ve already had some visitors from the Koufax post, I thought I’d recommend s few things for people to check out if they haven’t been here before.
If you get the chance, check out the Zach File. It follows the story of a teenage blogger whose parents sent him to a reparative therapy camp after he came out to them. I’d also recommend the posts about Laurel Hester a lesbian cop dying of lung cancer who recently won her fight for domestic partner benefits.
There are a few general categories I’d recommend as well. There are a bunch of posts in the Katrina category that I think are worth checking out. That goes for the Family, Parenting, and Race categories too.
I’ve posted so much that it’s had to recommened individual posts, because I’m sure I’ll forget some. However, the following come to mind if you don’t want to wade through the categories.
- When the Saints Go Cashing In
- Raising Cain, Decoding the Boy
- Where the Children Play
- Fight & Flight for Our Families
- Raise Up in the Way He Should Go
- From Justice to Just Us
- Lucas Dawson, Dwan Prince, and Us
- The Bush Breakdown
- Millions More (Not) Missed
- All I Want Is a Cure and My Friends Back
- The Alpha Males Must Die
- A White Republican Guy Who Doesn’t Get It
- Very Good Years
- Full Circle
- Of a Different Mind
- A, B, C …
Those are the ones that come immediately to mind. The last few are more personal than political, but I like them.
I’ll leave the rest to the readers here. Are there posts that have been favorites of yours, that you would recommend to someone visiting for the first time.
